Project 5 is not one group of people concentrated in only one area, it’s individuals spread out over the entire world making a difference in the simplest and most successful form… leading by example.

Our initiative is base on the potential commitment of millions of people to acquire a new habit, helping clean the earth. Project 5 aims to return to the world we deserve. Our once naturally beautiful surroundings are being destroyed by the massive amount of rubbish being constantly compiled on our earth.

We have to come together as human beings to put an end to this madness and preserve this earth for future generations to come. The idea is simple, but the results are extraordinary. This should not be something difficult or organized, just a change of habit in your daily life.

Do not wait for governments, businesses and others to act. Take charge of cleaning the Earth by a small but significant change in your life and commit to picking up 5 pieces of rubbish each and every time to add up to a cleaner earth.

Biodegradable or non-biodegradable, throwing garbage around is littering. And the environment is adversely affected by it. An island the size of France has formed of floating rubbish in the Pacific Ocean; thousands of miles of beaches have become unexpected landfills. Rubbish has become part a regular element of rivers, fields, forests and even mountains. Littering on the ground is the same as littering into the sea and vice-versa.

Dissolved toxic impurities have become part of the staple diet of many animals, which in turn can be transferred to humans when we eat these animals.
The soil and plants also suffer the effects of the slow decomposition of these materials.

Places that were once beautiful are now littered with garbage.

Cigarette butts, snack wrappers, take-away food containers, bottles, cans and plastics are the most commonly littered items but also hazardous waste such as batteries (commonly household batteries), tires and paint.

For each cigarette butt 60 liters of water are contaminated. Like hazardous waste, each discarded butt leach toxic elements such as cadmium, lead and arsenic, poisoning into our soil, waterways and groundwater.

In an endless sea of people, one might feel as though thier role is insignificant and believe it is impossible to make a difference single handily. However, Clean the Earth Project wants to combat those feelings of helplessness.

While the act is solo, we are all in this together and are powerful in numbers. Earth is our home and it is everyone's responsibility to keep it clean.

Littering is particularly bad in less developed countries but this is where conscientious tourists and travelers have great potential to improve the situation.

Just imagine millions of people traveling through the world and collecting rubbish along the way. This will help not only the environment, but also send a message across to local communities that littering should not be part of their daily habits.

We are not obsessed with rubbish collection but we do enjoy living in a beautiful and pristine environment and therefore it is vital to pick up litter when we are out in a natural environment and leave it the way we like it, clean.

Let's start to Clean the Earth now so that our children will be able to enjoy the true beauty of what nature has to offer.

The more people we have the more powerfull we are.

Clean the Earth has on its immediate agenda the implementation of several projects, including the creation of a large network of collaborating youth hostels throughout the world to encourage backpackers to participate in those countries most affected.
We are working on a project to deliver organic bags at the entrance of natural parks/reserves to encourage people to participate in rubbish collecting. This is just the beginning of a long list of ideas that we would love you to get involved in.

The health of our environment, of other animals and ours is at stake... our hopes are that for every person who carelessly litters, there will be another person behind them to correct their wrong.

Whould you like to work more actively with Clean the Earth?
Any occasion is good, feel free to take this concept as your own and spread the idea in as many places as possible. Clean workshops, school projects, university lectures, or media contact are some of the ways to publicize the initiative.
If you need anything please contact us through e-mail or by facebook. We are always happy to help and would love share ideas and projects.

To clean our home is the goal, a simple habit to change the face of the earth.
